The EQ2Emu story
From fragile alpha to a living toolkit.
EQ2Emu began with LethalEncounter and Image (Cadimiom) working to understand a game that was never designed to be rebuilt by its players. Across two decades, raw packets became parsers, direct SQL became purpose-built editors, location logs became movement scripts, and extracted client assets became maps, regions, and navigation data.

This is a living history assembled from archived releases, surviving changelogs, project documentation, and founder recollection. Release packages now recover part of the story through 2013; the 2014–2019 ledger remains incomplete, so absence from this page should not be read as absence of work.
